Wade Calhoun grew up in Athens and spent years carrying furniture for other outfits around the Classic City before he ever ran one. The work he didn’t mind. What wore on him was watching customers get treated like they could wait forever — a voicemail that took three days to return, a quote that never came, a crew that showed up two hours late or not at all on a Saturday someone had taken off work for. By 2015 he’d seen enough of it and started Faster Moving Services with a short list of promises: answer the phone, send the estimate fast, show up when we said we would, and move efficiently once we’re there.
Fast Because We Run Tight, Not Because We Cut Corners
The name is about speed, and we mean it literally — a free written estimate usually lands the same day you ask, often within the hour, and open slots mean we can frequently start same-day or next-day. But “faster” stops at the curb of your move. Our movers don’t rush your grandmother’s china or skip padding a doorway to shave ten minutes. Speed comes from a tight, well-run shop: a dispatcher who actually picks up, trucks staged close to town, and crews who’ve done this enough that they’re quick without being careless. We answer fast, quote fast, and arrive on time — the loading itself we do carefully.
Our Own Trucks, Our Own People
Faster Moving Services isn’t a broker, a matching service, or a website that hands your move off to whoever’s free. We own roughly seven trucks and employ about fourteen uniformed movers, and that’s who carries your boxes — Wade’s crew, on Wade’s payroll. Leading the operation are Operations Manager Brittany Hodges and estimator-dispatcher Jordan Pittman, both with us since 2016, plus crew leads DeShawn Carter, Cole Ramsey, and Travis Newton. We keep our US DOT and MC authority current for moves across state lines and our Georgia Department of Public Safety household-goods registration on file for moves within the state, and we’re bonded and insured with up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment. One note: we’re an independent local company and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with the University of Georgia — we just happen to be proud to call its hometown ours.
