How quickly can you actually get to my move?
Often the same day or the next, depending on what's open on the calendar. Because we stage our trucks close to Athens and run a tight schedule, short-notice jobs are something we handle all the time. How is the price figured out?
Local moves run hourly: $119/hr for a two-mover crew and truck with blankets, dollies, and tools included, or $168/hr for a three-mover crew. We also quote flat bands by home size — for example a studio runs roughly $320 to $500 and a two-bedroom $880 to $1,380. Long-distance moves are a binding flat rate starting at $1,790. You approve the written number before we lift anything.
Is there a deposit to book?
Yes — $89 holds your date, and it comes straight off your final bill rather than being an extra charge. That small deposit is what lets us guarantee the truck and crew show up on the day you picked.
What comes with the crew and truck?
The hourly rate already includes the truck, furniture blankets, dollies, hand trucks, straps, and basic tools for disassembling and reassembling beds and tables. You're paying for movers and equipment, not a pile of add-on fees for the gear that should come standard.
Do you pack, or just move?
Both. We'll do a full pack of your whole place, a partial pack of just the kitchen and breakables, or simply move what you've already boxed. If you're on a tight timeline, packing and the move can often happen in the same week — just ask for boxes and padding when you get your quote.
On a long move, is it the same crew the whole way?
Yes. The Faster Moving Services crew that loads your home in Athens drives the truck and unloads it at the destination. There's no van-line handoff and no second company you've never met showing up to carry your things inside.
What keeps my things safe during the move?
Released-value coverage at $0.60 per pound per item is included at no charge, and full-value protection that covers repair or replacement is available for an added fee. We carry up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment, and we're bonded and insured.
Are you a licensed moving company?
We are. We keep our US DOT and MC authority current for interstate moves and our Georgia Department of Public Safety household-goods motor-carrier registration on file for moves within the state. We're happy to share our numbers — ask when you call.
Are you a broker that farms moves out to other companies?
No, and we never have been. Faster Moving Services owns its trucks and employs its movers — about fourteen uniformed crew members on our own payroll. We're fast because we run a responsive, well-organized operation, not because we route your job to whoever happens to be free. The people who quote your move are the people who do it.
Do you cover the whole Athens area or just the city?
The whole area. Beyond Athens-Clarke we serve Watkinsville and Bogart in Oconee County, Jefferson and Commerce in Jackson County, the Madison County towns like Danielsville and Comer, and Lexington and Crawford over in Oglethorpe County. Give us a ZIP and we'll confirm you're on our route.

Can you work around UGA game days and student move-out?
Yes. Downtown and the campus high-rises get jammed during game-day weekends and the August move-in rush, so we plan the loading window, parking, and elevator reservations ahead of time and aim for the lighter hours. Book a little early during those stretches and we'll lock the timing that works best for you.
Can you move a piano or other heavy, awkward items?
We can. Uprights, baby grands, gun safes, large gym equipment, and other oversized pieces are handled with the right dollies, straps, and padding. Specialty handling starts around $349 — tell us what you've got when you call so we bring the proper gear.
How far ahead should I book?
We love a last-minute call and handle plenty of them, but a week or two of lead time gives you the widest choice of dates and start times — especially in summer and around UGA move-in. Either way, reach out and we'll find the soonest slot that fits.
